Achieve Your Aesthetic Goals
Belotero is an FDA-approved line of dermal fillers formulated with Hyaluronic Acid (HA). It is an extremely effective filler because HA is a natural component of our skin that keeps our skin hydrated. Over time, age-related structural changes occur in our skin and environmental exposure (sun, pollution etc.,) result in damaged, wrinkled, dry flattened skin and thinning lips making you look older than you feel. Isn’t it time to look as young as you feel? When you feel that it’s time to turn back the clock look no further than the Belotero family of dermal fillers. With many treatment options you’re sure to find a Belotero product that is right for you. Whether you want to reduce wrinkles and lines, add volume or rehydrate your skin, Belotero may be just the thing you need to achieve your desired look.
How It Works
There are three main lines of Belotero:
Belotero Balance should not be used in patients with a history of or presence of multiple or severe allergies, including those with a history of anaphylaxis. Belotero Balance should not be used in patients with allergies to gram-positive bacterial proteins.
Introduction of Belotero Balance into the vasculature may lead to embolization, occlusion of the vessels, ischemia, or infarction. Take extra care when injecting soft tissue fillers, for example inject the product slowly and apply the least amount of pressure necessary.
Rare but serious adverse events associated with the intravascular injection of soft tissue fillers in the face have been reported and include temporary or permanent vision impairment, blindness, cerebral ischemia or cerebral hemorrhage, leading to stroke, skin necrosis, and damage to underlying facial structures. Immediately stop the injection if a patient exhibits any of the following symptoms, including changes in vision, signs of a stroke, blanching of the skin, or unusual pain during or shortly after the procedure. Patients should receive prompt medical attention and possibly evaluation by an appropriate health care practitioner specialist should an intravascular injection occur. As with all events that involve an injection through the skin, there is a risk of infection. Laser treatments or chemical peels or any other treatments that affect the skin can increase the risk of infection. Do not use Belotero Balance if you have a skin inflammation or a skin infection. Do not use until the infection is healed. Patients getting Belotero Balance may have an injection site reaction. These reactions can include inflammation and usually last less than seven days. For approximately 24 hours after treatment, avoid:
Exposure to any of the above can cause temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection site. It is not known how Belotero Balance will work in areas of the face other than the smile lines. It is not known how Belotero Balance will work in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding or people who are less than 21 years of age.
Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines that affect blood clotting, like aspirin, an NSAID or warfarin. These medicines may put you at an increased risk of bruising or bleeding at the treatment site. Tell your doctor if you have a skin reaction like cold sores, cysts, pimples, rashes, hives, or an infection. Treatment with Belotero Balance should be delayed until the reaction goes away. Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines that affect your immune system.
The most common adverse events seen in clinical studies with Belotero Balance were swelling, bruising, redness, hardening of the skin, pain, altered color, or itching. Other side effects that have occurred in clinical studies of Belotero Balance include headache, swelling of the side of the nose, moderate cold sore, lip numbness, and lip dryness. Side effects were often mild to moderate and often resolved within 7 days.
Information on adverse events from post-market surveillance of Belotero Balance are included in the Package Insert (PI) and Patient Information Guide (PIG) based on an assessment of seriousness and potential causal relationship to Belotero Balance. Please see the PI and PIG available on www.belotero.com for a complete list of these events. Once injected, Belotero immediately gets to work filling the area, smoothing wrinkles and lines, rehydrating and plumping your skin.
During a treatment session, the selected Belotero product is injected into the treatment area using a very fine needle. Most of the Belotero products contain lidocaine which is a numbing agent to minimize your discomfort. However you can discuss the use of additional numbing agents with your practitioner. A Belotero treatment typically takes 30 minutes; this will vary from person to person depending on the extent of the treatments area(s).
Before your Belotero treatment, you must advise your doctor if you are on immunosuppressive therapy and it is also advisable to refrain from taking any medications that can cause prolonged bleeding such as, aspirin (ASA), ibuprofen, and anticoagulants and other blood thinners. If you are allergic to lidocaine please discuss this with your nurse and alternative treatments may be suggested. You may wear your normal clothing to your treatment.
Some people experience mild discomfort during the treatment session. Some say the injections feel like a slight pinch to the skin. However, most of the Belotero product lines contain lidocaine to increase your comfort and you may request that your skin be further numbed to reduce discomfort
Many people return to work and resume regular activities immediately following the treatment. After treatment, you may experience redness, slight bruising or itchiness at the injection site, mild pain and slight swelling. These side effects should fade within 1 week.
The results of the treatment are immediately noticeable. The Belotero family of fillers are long lasting, ranging from 9 – 18 month depending on the extensiveness of the correction, the treated area, individual skin factors and age. Following your Belotero Des Moines expert aestheticians typically recommended additional follow up appointments to enhance and maintain your results.
Because Belotero products are made with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring component of the skin allergic reactions are exceedingly rare. However, as the treatments delivered by injection is associated risk. Common side effects include redness, swelling, mild pain/itchiness at injection site, and/or bruising.
While Belotero treatment is a completely safe treatment, it may not be right for everybody. These include those who are allergic to lidocaine or sodium hyaluronate. Be sure to advise your aesthetician if you have known allergies and conditions. Pregnant and nursing women may want to postpone treatment.
