Proper Spa Etiquette Refresher!

Whether you’re a seasoned spa veteran, or a newbie trying to learn the way, it’s always good to have a refresher on how to carry yourself! Whether you’re running late for a standing appointment, or not sure of preparation protocol, we wanted to remind you of how we operate so you, and the guests that precede and follow you have the best experience possible. Like any other new routine added to your schedule, It’s best to be prepared and know what you’re getting into. Our goal is to make sure that you’re not only comfortable in your treatment, but also in working a 5-star spa experience into your schedule like you truly deserve. We’ve put together a quick list of talking points for you that will get you the most out of your spa experience that will make you want to come back for more!

Etiquette FAQ

What do I need to know about making an appointment?

It’s best to try to make your appointment 2 weeks before your desired appointment date. With the holidays approaching, we are getting booked solid! This is especially true for any appointments after 5pm. You can book now on our website, or call one of our three locations:

We try our best to accommodate last-minute requests, and there are cancellations that we might be able to fill as well, but your best bet is to schedule out ahead of time because we want your treatment and satisfaction to be on the books as a sure thing!

What do I need for my first visit? 

The best practice for your first visit is to arrive 10-15 minutes early. This will allow you time to check-in, and ensure that you receive your full service. Be sure to confirm your appointment through our automated text message system when prompted.

What if I’m running late? 

Please note that your late arrival will determine the length of your treatment. Your service will end on time so that the next guest is not delayed. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you may need to reschedule. The best way to reach us to notify us of your arrival time or to reschedule is to call us at 515-424-4414.

What about cancellations? 

Life happens, and unexpected cancellations are an unfortunate and unavoidable reality sometimes. If you know ahead of time that you cannot make your scheduled appointment, it’s best to call 24 hours in advance so we can make other arrangements for that time. Proper cancellation ensures that our guests (and you!) can get in that last-minute appointment should the need arise! 

What do I need to bring (or leave behind?)

You’re going to want to dress comfortably when you show up for your appointment. And, because our environment is intended to be a tranquil and stress-reducing experience, we ask you to leave cell phones and laptops at home or turn them off before entering. We discourage bringing children to the spa to maintain a relaxing and safe environment. 

It’s also a best practice to come to your treatment without makeup. If you’re unable to clean up beforehand, we can help you remove your makeup before your treatment. 

Please follow your provider’s care instructions for best possible results. 

Are there any precautions I should take before treatment? 

Ideally, it’s best to avoid sun exposure 2-3 days before your treatment, and in some cases the day after. 

Depending on the treatment, if you are severely sunburned or tanned, we may need to reschedule your appointment or change your treatment. Please call ahead (515-424-4414) if possible to let us know if you have any heavy sun exposure to ensure you are able to be treated at your appointment time.

It’s also recommended that you drink plenty of water and stay hydrated before and after treatment. This is especially true if heat therapy is part of your treatment. 

Is tipping customary? 

While tipping is not required, it is certainly appreciated and shows a direct reflection of your view of the service you received. The customary gratuity for services is 15% to 20% of the cost of the services.
